Does this sound like you? - You're not entirely comfortable with your alcohol consumption. - Drinking is making you feel tired, depleted or sad. - You sometimes drink to "take the edge off" or relax, but it ends up making you feel worse the next morning. - You're concerned about drinking and your brain health. - Sometimes we need a safe, focused container to take a step back and evaluate how we're evolving and changing. "Sober curious" is a term that refers to a broad array of experiences, but the commonality is a willingness to take a look at ourselves, at our family systems and at our society with a fresh, compassionate and curious gaze. This 4-week course explores how different yoga practices can be helpful to support a sober-curious journey. This does not mean participants will be encouraged to stop drinking alcohol, though many in past years have made that choice. We will practice curiosity about the influences that encourage drinking in our culture, and how we can make more informed, mindful choices. We'll meet on Zoom for four Wednesdays 5 - 6pm pst. This course will include: - Four livestream classes (lecture, discussion and practice) - Four recorded yoga practice sessions - An optional private Facebook group, for sharing, discussion and support Cost is $75 E.B. Ferdig is a yoga therapist specializing in anxiety and addictions. She has been alcohol-free for 4.5 years. Check out what others are saying: "What I liked about this class, besides the teacher and the co-participants, is the practical, non-judgemental approach to choosing better. Choosing a better way to unwind, to relax, rather than drinking. Choosing other rituals. Our culture is beyond toxic, and our society—nearly all societies— relentlessly push alcohol, a highly addictive substance, in both overt and subtle ways. It’s ubiquitous. This class is not a modern temperance society. It’s not about how much you drink or whether you should stop completely, it’s simply about exploring, what if? How? Why? Which ends up being hopeful and empowering. " "E.B.’s sober-curious was just the crack in the door I needed to take a gentle, uncommitted look at sobriety. The weekly gatherings were both soothing and instructive. I appreciated E.B.’s guidance and knowledge of yoga and alcohol use, as well as the honest and vulnerable sharing amongst the participants. It was a safe and welcoming space to explore life changes."
